Prompt Engineering
Good Prompt, Better Prompt, Best Prompt
Cloud Mind Academy
The quality of your AI output depends on the quality of your prompt. This deep dive shows practical examples of common prompts and how to upgrade them from good to better to best.
Let’s Be Real
Most people do not get bad AI answers because the tool is useless. They get bad answers because the prompt is too vague.
A simple prompt can produce a simple answer. A stronger prompt gives the AI context, direction, examples, rules, and a clear output format. That is how you move from generic results to useful results.
The Simple Rule: Add More Useful Context
Better prompts usually include five things: role, goal, context, rules, and output format.
1. Role
Tell the AI who to act as: resume coach, Salesforce tutor, hiring manager, editor, project manager, or business analyst.
2. Goal
Explain what you are trying to accomplish and what a successful answer should help you do.
3. Context
Share background information, audience, situation, constraints, source material, examples, or important details.
4. Rules
Tell the AI what to avoid: do not invent facts, do not use jargon, do not exaggerate, ask questions if information is missing.
5. Output Format
Tell the AI how to respond: table, checklist, email, outline, action plan, script, resume bullets, or blog post.
Example 1
Resume Prompt
Resume prompts work best when you tell the AI the role, the job target, the experience to use, and what not to exaggerate.
Good Prompt
Help me improve my resume.
Better Prompt
Act as a resume coach. Help me improve my resume for a Salesforce Administrator role. Make the bullet points clearer, more results-focused, and easier for recruiters to understand.
Best Prompt
Act as a resume coach and hiring manager for a Salesforce Administrator role. Review the resume content I paste below and rewrite the bullet points to be clear, measurable, and aligned to Salesforce admin responsibilities. Focus on CRM support, user training, reporting, process improvement, documentation, permissions, data quality, and automation. Do not invent experience or add tools I did not mention. Return the answer in a table with three columns: Original Bullet, Improved Bullet, and Why It Is Stronger.
Why the best prompt works: It gives the AI a role, target job, specific skills, honesty rule, and output format.
Example 2
Job Interview Prompt
Interview prompts are stronger when you include the role, panel, time limit, and answer style.
Good Prompt
Help me prepare for an interview.
Better Prompt
Act as an interview coach. Help me prepare for a Salesforce Product Manager interview. Give me common questions, strong talking points, and examples of answers using the STAR method.
Best Prompt
Act as a senior product leadership interview coach. I am preparing for a 90-minute panel interview for a Salesforce Product Manager role focused on CRM roadmap, sales experience, data quality, workflow automation, and AI agent readiness. Create 12 likely interview questions, grouped by product strategy, stakeholder management, Salesforce delivery, AI/Agentforce, and leadership. For each question, give me: what the panel is really testing, a strong answer structure, one STAR example angle, and one mistake to avoid.
Why the best prompt works: It names the interview type, role focus, topic categories, and exactly how the answer should be organized.
Example 3
Blog Post Prompt
Blog prompts work best when you define the audience, angle, tone, structure, SEO goal, and call to action.
Good Prompt
Write a blog post about AI.
Better Prompt
Write a beginner-friendly blog post about how AI tools can help people improve productivity at work. Use a conversational tone and include practical examples.
Best Prompt
Write a Cloud Mind Academy blog post for beginners titled “How AI Tools Can Help You Work Smarter.” The audience is job seekers, Salesforce learners, and business professionals who are new to AI. Use a practical, encouraging, non-hype tone. Include sections for writing, research, meeting notes, resume improvement, study support, and workflow automation. Add recommendations, common mistakes to avoid, SEO keywords, and a final takeaway. Keep paragraphs short and easy to scan.
Why the best prompt works: It gives the AI brand context, title, audience, tone, sections, recommendations, SEO needs, and formatting expectations.
Example 4
Learning and Study Prompt
Study prompts are better when you tell the AI your level, goal, topic, learning style, and how you want to be tested.
Good Prompt
Teach me Salesforce Data 360.
Better Prompt
Explain Salesforce Data 360 to a beginner. Use simple examples, explain the main concepts, and give me practice questions.
Best Prompt
Act as a Salesforce Data 360 certification tutor. I am a beginner but I understand basic Salesforce admin concepts. Teach me Data 360 at an administrator level, not just a definition level. Explain Data Spaces, Data Kits, Data Streams, DMOs, identity resolution, calculated insights, permissions, and activation. For each topic, include a simple explanation, a real-world Salesforce example, an exam-style takeaway, and two practice questions. Quiz me one question at a time and explain why my answer is right or wrong.
Why the best prompt works: It defines the tutor role, learner level, exact topics, teaching style, exam focus, and interactive quiz format.
Example 5
Email Prompt
Email prompts improve when you give the relationship, purpose, tone, and desired outcome.
Good Prompt
Write a follow-up email.
Better Prompt
Write a professional follow-up email after a job interview. Thank the panel, restate my interest, and mention that I am excited about the role.
Best Prompt
Write a concise thank-you email after a 90-minute panel interview for a Senior Product Manager role focused on Salesforce CRM, sales experience, data quality, and AI-enabled workflows. The tone should be warm, professional, and confident. Thank the panel for their time, reference my excitement about building scalable CRM experiences, mention my background in cross-cloud Salesforce delivery and stakeholder alignment, and close by saying I look forward to next steps. Keep it under 180 words.
Why the best prompt works: It includes the scenario, role, topic focus, tone, length limit, and key points to include.
Example 6
Research Prompt
Research prompts should include the topic, decision you are trying to make, source expectations, and how the findings should be organized.
Good Prompt
Research AI tools.
Better Prompt
Compare ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini for writing, research, coding, and productivity. Give pros, cons, and a recommendation.
Best Prompt
Compare ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini for a beginner who wants to use AI for job searching, blog writing, Salesforce study, document review, and workplace productivity. Organize the answer in a table with columns for Tool, Best Use Cases, Strengths, Weaknesses, Free Plan Fit, Paid Plan Fit, and Recommendation. Use current official source information where possible. Clearly separate facts from assumptions and end with the best tool recommendation for most beginners.
Why the best prompt works: It includes the audience, use cases, tools to compare, table format, source quality, and recommendation criteria.
Example 7
Business Analysis Prompt
Business analysis prompts should ask the AI to clarify the process, identify stakeholders, surface risks, and recommend next steps.
Good Prompt
Help me gather requirements.
Better Prompt
Act as a business analyst. Help me gather requirements for a Salesforce workflow. Give me questions to ask stakeholders and a requirements template.
Best Prompt
Act as a senior Salesforce business analyst. Help me gather requirements for a Sales Cloud workflow that improves lead follow-up and reduces manual admin work. Create discovery questions grouped by business goals, current process, user pain points, data quality, automation rules, reporting needs, permissions, edge cases, and success metrics. Then create a requirements template with sections for problem statement, stakeholders, current state, future state, user stories, acceptance criteria, risks, dependencies, and open questions.
Why the best prompt works: It gives the AI a clear role, Salesforce context, business goal, requirement categories, and desired deliverable.
The Prompt Upgrade Formula
Whenever your prompt feels too basic, upgrade it with this formula.
Act as a [role]. Help me [goal]. The audience is [audience]. Here is the context: [context]. Follow these rules: [rules]. Return the answer as [format].
Role
Who should the AI act as?
Goal
What do you want the AI to help you accomplish?
Context
What background information does the AI need to avoid guessing?
Rules
What should the AI do, avoid, verify, or ask before answering?
Format
What should the final answer look like?
Avoid These
Common Prompt Mistakes
Being Too Vague
“Help me with this” is usually not enough. Explain what you want and why you need it.
Skipping the Audience
The same answer should sound different for a beginner, executive, recruiter, student, customer, or technical user.
Accepting the First Draft
Ask the AI to critique, improve, shorten, expand, simplify, or make the answer more practical.
Not Setting Rules
Tell the AI not to invent facts, not to exaggerate, not to use jargon, or to ask clarifying questions when details are missing.
Final Takeaway
Prompting is not about using fancy words. It is about giving the AI enough direction to produce something useful.
A good prompt asks for help. A better prompt adds context. The best prompt gives the AI a role, goal, audience, rules, examples, and output format. That is how you turn AI from a basic chatbot into a practical work assistant.
